Who Needs Physiotherapy?

You should see a physiotherapist if you suffer from any of the following conditions:
  • Pain: Acute or chronic, neck, back, muscles, joints, bones
  • Weakness, stiffness, walking difficulties, decreased mobility, decreased balance
  • Arthritis, rheumatism, degenerative diseases, tendonitis, bursitis, capsulitis, rotator cuff...
  • Sciatica, disk problems, low back pain, whiplash, pinched nerves, headache, migrane
  • Sprains, strains, post fractures / dislocations, post surgical therapy
  • Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, myofascial pain syndromes
  • Repetitive Strain Injuries
  • TMJ dysfunction, Planter Fascitis, knee injuries, Carpel tunnel syndrome, Tennis elbows
If you have any of these conditions, do not ignore it, as it may get worse with time.
 

Do I Need a Doctor's Referral?

ABM Physiotherapy does not require a referral as the therapy is conducted by Registered Physiotherapists (A Registered Physiotherapist is an independent healthcare professional who conducts Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment of patients).

Some extended health insurance plans require a doctor's referral for the patient to be able to access the benefits of the plan
  

Does My Insurance Cover Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is NOT covered by OHIP.

ABM Physiotherapy welcomes patients with all health insurance plans and offers Direct Billing, IF the insurance plan                 accepts. Examples of such plans are:
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA), SAAQ
  • Great West Life...
  • RCMP, veterans affairs...
 

What Should I Expect In the Treatment Session?

After the initial assessment is done in the first visit, Physiotherapy sessions may involve a variety of the following:

  • Electrotherapy: Interferential current. TENS
